Following the guidelines in Nehemiah chapter three, in a counterclockwise direction, we examine all of the gates of Jerusalem beginning at the Sheep Gate in the north and ending with the East Gate. Abandoning the theory that Nehemiah’s wall was at the top of the City of David’s east ridge, we follow the actual path of Hezekiah’s 8th century BC mid-slope wall. Nehemiah did not build his own new wall but as the Bible states over 35 times, he repaired the existing wall!
